Over the last several years, a number of pedestrians have been injured at Cullen Boulevard near Wenda Street. There is now a lighted walkway that will allow pedestrians to get safely from one side of the street to the other. This was not the case until August 2016 as Wilma Montgomery was struck and killed while walking home from church. School kids and children had to dodge traffic in an effort to get across the busy Cullen Boulevard. Thankfully, that is no longer the case.
Hopefully, cities and municipalities in and around Houston will take notice and make certain intersections are safe for pedestrians. It is important to note that this particular intersection is still seeing some drivers that do not stop but that will change as more people recognize the brand new stop light that has been installed.
