On Tuesday, July 26th, 2016 a pedestrian was hit by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) on U.S. 59. The accident was the cause of death for the pedestrian. The incident happened at approximately 6:10 a.m. on the outbound Southwest Freeway near Kirby, Texas. The pedestrian was walking in the lanes of the freeway and did not yield the right of way to the driver of a blue Ford Expedition.
The driver immediately stopped. When questioned by authorities at the scene of the accident the driver was found not to be impaired and was released. This accident caused all southbound lanes of U.S. 59 to remain closed will crews cleared the scene.
